The Session

What a headshot session with me actually looks like:

Most headshot sessions feel like a lot of standing around waiting to be told what to do. Mine don’t work like that.

Every session starts with a short conversation about what you actually need the photos for - your speaking bio, a company website, a press release, or LinkedIn. The purpose shapes everything: the framing, the expression, the formality of the look. A barrister and a startup founder both need to look credible, but credible looks different in each case.

Sessions are two hours, and that’s deliberate. The first 30 – 40 minutes, most people are still warming up, you’re a bit stiff, a bit self-conscious, not quite yourself. By the second half, that starts to ease. You’ll start to pose in a way that feels far more natural and as you relax more of your personality will start to show through.

You’ll also get direction throughout - on posture, expression, where to look. I’m not just pointing a camera at you and hoping for the best, which is the reason most people say it was nothing like they expected.

Before the session

Every booking includes a 15–30 minute call beforehand. It’s not a formality — it’s where we figure out what the photos actually need to do for you.

We’ll talk through where you’re planning to use them, the look you’re going for, what to wear, and whether a studio or an outdoor London location makes more sense for your brief. If it’s your first professional headshot session, we’ll also cover what to expect on the day so nothing catches you off guard.

I work with studios across London, chosen to suit the brief and your location.
I’ll share the exact studio details once we’ve confirmed your booking. Sessions can also take place on location - a particular part of the city, your office, or anywhere else that makes sense for the look you’re going for.
Wear something you’d wear to meet a client. You know what ‘professional’ looks like in your world better than I do. Bring two or three options and we can decide together on the day. Solid colours tend to work better than strong patterns, and avoid anything too bright or too pale if you want a neutral background.
You’ll have a gallery to review within a couple of days of the shoot. Once you’ve selected your images, fully edited high-resolution files are delivered within a couple of weeks.
I get some version of this from almost everyone I work with, so don’t worry, you’re not alone.
The session is designed to feel like a normal conversation that happens to have a camera in it. The pre-shoot call also helps to get us a little more acquainted so that by the time you walk into the studio, you’ll have a clear idea of what to expect.
